Zimplats Holdings Limited announced today the appointment of Dr. Stanley John Segula as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2026.
The major platinum group metals producer confirmed the leadership transition in a regulatory filing, marking the conclusion of a 19-year tenure by outgoing chief executive Alexander Mhembere.
Mhembere, who has guided the company since October 2007, will step down from the top corporate post but is scheduled to remain within the group structure as the non-executive Chairman of the operating subsidiary, Zimbabwe Platinum Mines (Private) Limited.
Dr. Segula ascends to the helm after serving as the managing director of the operating subsidiary since May 2015, having previously occupied the role of chief operating officer.
A qualified mining engineer with over 30 years of operational and executive experience across the mining value chain, the incoming chief executive holds a PhD in Strategic Management and Leadership alongside an MBA.
Board officials stated that Mhembere’s retention as subsidiary chairman is intended to ensure institutional continuity as the company continues to navigate volatile global metal prices and execute its ongoing multi-million dollar mining infrastructure and refinery expansion projects in Zimbabwe. ![]()
