Zimbabwe’s gold deliveries reached 5.11 tonnes in August 2026, a 20.68% increase on the 4.24 tonnes recorded in the same month last year, according to official data released by Fidelity Gold Refinery (FGR).

The growth was driven largely by small-scale producers, whose output jumped to a year-to-date monthly high of 3.98 tonnes in August.

Cumulative gold purchases by FGR reached 31.17 tonnes over the first eight months of 2026, with small-scale miners delivering 22.38 tonnes — nearly 72% of the total — while primary, large-scale producers contributed the remaining 8.78 tonnes.

Quarterly figures show delivery momentum picking up through the middle of the year. Purchases rose from 9.31 tonnes in the first quarter to 12.09 tonnes in the second, before reaching 9.77 tonnes across the first two months of the third quarter.

Small-scale miners anchored first-quarter deliveries, contributing 6.51 tonnes, or 69.92% of the quarter’s total, with primary producers accounting for the remaining 2.8 tonnes.

In the second quarter, total purchases climbed 29.78% quarter-on-quarter, boosted by an 8.43-tonne delivery from small-scale producers — 69.76% of the quarterly total — alongside 3.65 tonnes from primary producers.

With one month still to go, third-quarter deliveries had already reached 9.77 tonnes by the end of August, with small-scale miners accounting for 76.1% of that partial-quarter output.

Primary producers, meanwhile, maintained steady monthly output throughout the eight months, averaging above 1.1 tonnes per month between March and August and peaking at 1.23 tonnes in June. – (Pindula)
