LOCAL – HARARE (Mining Index) – THE Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) has embarked on a gold mechanisation program to capacitate artisanal and small scale miners with mining equipment and consumables for improved gold recovery.
“Notice is hereby given that The Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) is embarking on an artisanal and small -scale mining gold mineral production enhancement program country-wide,”
“The program will assist in increasing gold deliveries to Fidelity Printers and Refiners (FPR),” said Wellington Takavarasha, ZMF chief executive officer in a memo addressed to Artisanal and Small Scale Miners (ASM).
Artisanal and small-scale miners have for many years been grossly incapacitated, despite accounting for most of the gold delivered to FPR, contributing approximately 66 percent of formal gold deliveries to Fidelity FY2018.
“This mechanization initiative will see identified beneficiaries receive basic extractive and crushing mining equipment and mining consumables,” he said.
Beneficiaries to the mechanisation program are expected to receive mining equipment and consumables such as hammer mills, pumps, generators, jaw crushers, explosives, chemicals and diesel.
ZMF projected 80 tonnes of gold output FY2020 through increased investment, strengthened provision of drilling and exploration services, key facets which the federation has identified to achieving this vision, which will contribute significantly to the national economy. ENDS// www.miningindex.co.zw
