The Ministry of Mines and Mining Development has officially announced a temporary suspension of walk-in services at the Deputy Cadastre Registrar’s Office, effective Monday, 26 October 2026, as part of an aggressive drive to fast-track the deployment of the digital Mining Title Management System.

According to a directive from the ministry, the closure of physical public desks at the central office will remain in place until further notice to give authorities the necessary space and technical focus to roll out the modernised system.

The electronic upgrade is expected to streamline mining administration, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, and modernise the registration and tracking of mining titles across the country.

To minimise disruption to the mining sector during this transition, the ministry has established alternative channels for the submission of critical documents.

Stakeholders and prospective applicants are advised that all application forms, statutory filings, and supporting paperwork can still be submitted physically through their respective Provincial Mining Director’s offices nationwide.

These provincial hubs will continue to operate as local conduits, ensuring that mining activities and regulatory compliance do not grind to a halt while the central database is being overhauled.

This suspension coincides with a broader, intensive 90-day data-capture and verification exercise that commenced on 15 October 2026.

The technical audit aims to update missing surveyed coordinates into the Mining Cadastre Information Management System (MCIMS) at both the head office in Harare and various provincial outposts.

By temporarily halting direct walk-in inquiries at the Registrar’s office, the government intends to redirect administrative resources toward clearing historical backlogs and validating geographical data.

In tandem with these operational changes, the ministry has issued a public warning regarding institutional transparency and security.

Officials have explicitly stated that the ministry does not employ external agents, consultants, or intermediaries to facilitate transactions, nor does it levy unauthorized fees for standard service access.

Members of the public who require clarification or assistance regarding their applications during the walk-in suspension are encouraged to contact the ministry directly through its official, toll-free customer support hotline at 08004577, which remains operational from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
