Zimbabwean companies attend 2020 Mining Indaba in Cape Town

HARARE (Mining Index) – ZIMBABWEAN mining companies are participating at the 2020 Investing in African Mining Indaba Conference underway in Cape Town, South Africa.

Investing in African Mining Indaba is the worlds’ largest mining investment conference, dedicated to the capitalisation and development of mining in Africa with a proven track record of bringing together Heads of State, Ministers, senior Government representatives, Major, Mid and Junior Mining Companies, Investors, professional services as well as mining equipment and service providers.

Freda Rebecca Gold Mine, Bindura Nickel Corporation Limited, Landela Investments, Prospect Resources and Great Dyke Investments are some of the mining companies attending the indaba. Financial institutions like Ecobank are also present at this prestigious mining event.

The Ministry of Mines and Mining Development together with the Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ) are also attending the indaba.

Mining Index is among accredited media covering the indaba together with over 143 international journalists from across the globe.

The Zimbabwe is Open for Business Lounge is open for discussions with the minister of Mines and Mining Development honourable Winston Chitando while a senior account manager with Ecobank, Isabel Nyoka will make a Mining and Trade presentation. Daily networking receptions are being held at Onyx Hotel between 1600 – 1700hrs during the indaba.

Zimbabwe’s participation at the Indaba is essential for local mining companies looking for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

A country with great potential, Zimbabwe holds 19 percent of global chrome ore reserves, making it the second largest chrome ore reserve in the world after South Africa. The country also holds the second largest gold reserves per square kilometre in the whole world with 13 million tonnes of proven reserves of which only over 600 tonnes have been exploited since 1980.

The indaba, which started yesterday, is running under the theme “Optimising Growth and Investment in the Digitised Mining Economy” and is expected to end on February 6th 2020.

This African leading investment forum drives more investment deals and attracts more miners and investors for unparalleled deal-making opportunities.

More space has been made within the Investment Pavilion to allow for even more junior miners and investors while the VIP main stage is hosting CEOs, Ministers and Presidents.
