Karo Resources platinum project ahead of schedule

HARARE (Mining Index) – THE US$4.2 billion Karo Resources Mhondoro-Ngezi platinum project is ahead of schedule, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has revealed while listing his achievements since taking over office in 2018.

Located in Mhondoro, Mubaira, the Great Dyke platinum project which is under construction, will include a mining complex and a refining complex.

In July 2018, Karo Resources commenced the construction of the US$4.2 billion integrated platinum mining project, which is expected to produce 1.4 million ounces of refined Platinum Group of Metals (PGMs) a year.

Karo Refining will include the concentration, smelting and refining to produce PGMs. It will also incorporate a base metal and precious metal refinery.

The Karo resources project is expected to generate up 90 000 direct and indirect jobs across the value chain.  ENDS// www.miningndex.co.zw
