Kamativi Mining Company Empowers 203 Students with Vital Health Education at Local Secondary School

Kamativi Mining Company, through its Public Health teams, conducted a successful health education and safety session at Kamativi Secondary School, reaching a total of 203 students.

The initiative aimed to empower students with knowledge on key public health and safety issues affecting the community.

The session focused on topics including malaria, STIs, HIV and AIDS, teenage pregnancy, and water and sanitation.
Ms Lorraine Katekwe the KMC Safety and Health led the discussion on teenage pregnancy, highlighting its causes and adverse effects on health, education, and future opportunities. She urged students to prioritize education, resist peer pressure, seek guidance from responsible adults, and make informed life decisions.

Mr Daniel Chibaya presented on water and sanitation, emphasizing the importance of safe drinking water, proper waste management, and environmental cleanliness. He demonstrated correct handwashing practices and discussed the prevention of waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid.

Kamativi Mining Company remains dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing of its host communities through continued health education and awareness programs aimed at building a healthier, safer, and more informed generation.
