Clara Petronella Sadomba, a metallurgical engineer and mining industry executive with more than 26 years of experience, was recently appointed as an independent non-executive director of Zimplats Holdings Limited with effect from November 1, 2026.

In a statement released on November 1, Zimplats said the appointment was approved by the company’s board of directors, which described Ms Sadomba as bringing extensive expertise across mineral processing, ferrochrome production, operational management, international mineral marketing and logistics.

Ms Sadomba holds a Master of Engineering in Metallurgical Engineering from McGill University in Canada and is registered as a Professional Engineer in Zimbabwe.

According to the company, she held a series of technical, operational and commercial leadership roles at Zimasco, eventually rising to General Manager for Marketing, where she oversaw commercial strategy, global markets and export logistics. Her professional experience also includes smelting operations, metallurgical process improvement, mine-to-smelter value chain integration, procurement and regulatory engagement.

Beyond her corporate roles, Sadomba founded Silvergill Enterprises, a mining logistics services business, and serves as chairperson of the Mining Industry Pension Fund Board.

Zimplats said Sadomba’s metallurgical expertise, mining sector leadership and commercial experience would strengthen the board’s oversight of operational performance, strategic investment, market dynamics and risk management.

The board welcomed the appointment and said it looked forward to her contribution to the company.
