Zimbabwe’s national gold deliveries fell 7.9% month-on-month to 4,715.46 kilograms in September 2026, down from the 5,119.20 kilograms recorded in August, according to the latest data from sole buyer Fidelity Gold Refinery (FGR).

Despite the monthly contraction, the September output represents a massive 86% increase compared to the same period last year.

The monthly decline was primarily driven by the informal sector.

Deliveries from small-scale miners fell 14.6% to 3,398.32 kilograms, though they still accounted for the lion’s share (72.1%) of total national volume.

Conversely, primary large-scale producers saw a 15.5% surge in output, delivering 1,317.14 kilograms compared to August’s 1,140.71 kilograms.

On a quarterly basis, the sector maintained strong momentum. Total gold deliveries for the third quarter (Q3 2026) reached 14,483.97 kilograms, marking a 19.8% increase over Q2 and an 8.7% rise year-on-year.

Cumulatively, the gold delivered to FGR in the first nine months of 2026 generated an estimated US$5.2 billion in revenue, anchoring a broader mining sector that brought in US$9.93 billion over the same period.

The government remains optimistic that the country is on track to hit its ambitious 50-tonne national gold production target by December.
