Caledonia Mining has kicked off 2025 with a strong performance, setting a new first-quarter production record at its flagship Blanket Mine.
The company has announced quarterly gold production of 18,671 ounces, beating the 17,050 ounces produced in Q1 2024 and exceeding the previous Q1 record of 18,515 ounces set in 2022.
As a result of mining output outpacing milling capacity, the mine’s surface stockpile has grown significantly to approximately 15,000 tonnes.
The company says Blanket is on track to meet its 2025 gold production guidance of between 74,000 and 78,000 ounces.
CEO Mark Learmonth says: “I’m delighted to report that production in Q1 2025 has set a new record for production in a first quarter at Blanket, with over 18,500 ounces produced—a particularly strong performance given that the first quarter is traditionally our weakest.”
The higher production, plus record gold prices, means Caledonia is “well positioned to generate healthy cash flows and to continue investing in our growth projects.” (NewZWire)
