HARARE (Mining Index) – THE Zimbabwe Consolidate Diamond Company (ZCDC) board has appointed Levi Chiota as new Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a period of three months.
Chiota takes over from Roberto de Pretto, who has been Acting CEO since 16 May 2019 following the ouster of Morris Mpofu.
In a memo circulated to all ZCDC employees dated today, 28 August 2020, ZCDC board chairman Wellington Pasipamire announced the appointment of Chiota to the ZCDC helm.
“The board regrets to advise all employees that Mr Roberto de Pretto’s employment with Zimbabwe Consolidate Diamond Company (Pvt) Ltd will end on 30 November 2020, however, Rob will proceed on notice from 28 August 2020,”
“Following this development, and in order to ensure that there is no leadership gap, the Board has appointed Mr. Levi Chiota, (Mine Manager – Chiadzwa and currently the acting Chief Operating Officer) to act as the Chief Executive Officer for a period of three months with effect from Monday 31 August 2020,”
“The Board would like to thank Rob for holding the leadership fort for the organisation since 16 May 2019 amid very challenging times. We wish Rob all the best in his future endeavours,” said Pasipamire.
He said the ZCDC Board welcomes Levi to his new role and request that employees give him all the necessary support.
On 24 April this year, an interim ZCDC board was appointed consisting of Jemsta Chiningiga, Charles Tahwa, Peter Chimbedza, Slava Chela and Pasipamire as the chairperson. ENDS// www.miningindex.co.zw
