HARARE (Mining Index) – DID you know that geophysical mapping of Zimbabwe was done, covering approximately 95 percent of the country?

Mineral deposits of Zimbabwe are amongst the best documented in Africa, and are available, making Zimbabwe a magnet for investment.

A search through the geological survey done forms the first stage in exploration of any mineral in Zimbabwe, and there is no need to reinvent the wheel as most of the data is available.

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) sponsored the aeromagnetic data on Zimbabwe in the 1990s.

The geological survey provides precompetitive geoscientific information that can be used by mining companies, exploration companies and even the Artisanal and Small-scale Miners (ASM).

With massive historical data on mineral occurrences, and usage of modern exploration techniques, the full potential of Zimbabwe’s mining sector is yet to be realized. ENDS// www.miningindex.co.zw
