New date for ZMF AGM set

HARARE (Mining Index) – THE Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) Annual General Meeting AGM) and exhibition has been tentatively scheduled to take place from the 5th to the 6th of November 2019 in Gweru.

In a memo circulated on 26th September 2019, ZMF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wellington Takavarasha said;

“Notice is hereby given that the Office of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe has given the ZMF Secretariat tentatively the 6th of November 2019 as the date the President will avail himself for the ZMF AGM and Conference and deliver the keynote address. It therefore means that the programmes will begin on the 5th of November 2019.”

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officiate at this inaugural ZMF AGM and exhibition.

On September 9th 2019, ZMF Secretariat had previously notified its members, various stakeholders, exhibitors and delegates of the cancellation of the symposium.

“The Zimbabwe Miners Federation Executive and Management Board wishes to announce that due to the current state of events and circumstances beyond our control, we have been left with no option but to cancel the ZMF AGM Conference that was due to be held on the 10th -11th of September 2019 at the Gweru Convention Centre,” said Takavarasha.

The event, to be co-hosted by ZMF in partnership with the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development will be running under the theme “Revolutionizing the ASM sector through Formalization.”

Mines and Mining Development Minister Winston Chitando, Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube, Energy and Power Development Minister Fortune Chasi, Minister of State for Midlands Province Larry Mavima including Mines and Mining Development Deputy Minister Polite Kambamura are some of the government officials expected to present.
