Chamber of Mines Zimbabwe (CoMZ) elects female president

HARARE (Mining Index) – ELIZABETH Nerwande was last week elected to the Chamber of Mines Zimbabwe (CoMZ) presidency.

She becomes the second CoMZ female president after Ellah Muchemwa, a former executive at RioZim.

Nerwande takes over from Bindura Nickel Corporation’s Batirai Manhando, who has been president since 2017.

Coleen Chibafa, Unkie Mine chief finance officer was elected first-vice president while How Mine managing director Demand Gwatinetsa takes over as second-vice president.

Nerwande is Mimosa Mining’s corporate affairs executive, who, in 2015 was elected the first female CoMZ vice president. ENDS//

  1. please make education of communities where these minerals are extracted a priority and the education must be incorporated in the school curriculums with students having field trips to these areas.
    It is very heart rendering to see how much other nations are benefiting from resources from my motherland and thje areas where these are gotten from are in abject misery and Zimbabwe is the best example of poor countries.
