Units 7 and 8 were set to be completed in November 2022 and February 2023 respectively. In November 2022, the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) expected one of the two expansion units to be online by the end of the year. The project’s contractor, Sino Hydro, stated testing of the turbine had begun. When complete, the two units, Hwange 7 and 8 are expected to generate a total of 600 megawatts.
