HARARE (Mining Index) – A SIGNIFCANT number of mines in Zimbabwe have been lying idle for over a decade, prejudicing the country of meaningful mining revenue.
Government, through the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development set out to achieve a US$12 billion mining economy by 2023.
Mines that have been lying idle for over a decade are a threat towards realisation of this dream.
While some of these mines are alleged to be linked to precolonial owners, some claim these mines are being held for speculative purposes.
Artisanal miners have invaded some of the mines in order to put food on their table.

- Motapa Gold Mine,

- Kerry Gold Mine,
- Old Nick Gold Mine,
- Camperdown Gold Mine,
- Wonderer Gold Mine,
